What a Move to Dulles Has to Offer
Part of the Washington metropolitan area, Dulles is in Loudoun County, Virginia. Dulles was once the host city for the headquarters of AOL, and it continues to house the home offices of Orbital Sciences Corporation, GeoEye and ODIN. Dulles is not officially incorporated as a city, although the USPS does recognize it as the acceptable name for the southwestern third of the city of Sterling.
In October of each year, Sterlingfest heads into the Greater Dulles area. Sterlingfest is an event that often brings over 7,000 residents out to enjoy a variety of crafts, foods and other items from a swath of vendors. There are activities and rides for kids, and a local society called the Sterling Playmakers hosts live entertainment alongside local musicians all throughout the day as the festival runs for over six hours. Sterlingfest also has prefestival days available to the public that offer the community an opportunity to help plan the event.
Dulles and its surrounding area is also home to some great museums. The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is an aviation museum with exhibits that display numerous types of aircraft. The Children's Science Center offers a similar experience for a younger crowd and is an excellent way to spend an afternoon. The Sully Historic Site is a historic landmark in the Dulles area. There, visitors can learn about the history of the area from guides who are dressed in the time period clothing. Gun enthusiasts can also head down to the National Firearms Museum. This museum has 15 different galleries with exhibits telling the story of America and its guns with over 2,700 firearms on display.
