Located in the Panhandle Plains region of the northern tip of Texas, only 15 miles south from Oklahoma border, Wichita Falls is a family-friendly city. It is the main city in the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses Archer, Clay and Wichita counties. The city is home to the Newby-McMahon Building, built in 1919 and since known as the “world’s littlest skyscraper.”
As of the 2013 U.S. Census, Wichita Falls has a population of about 104,000. The city is partly named after a set of 54-foot man-made cascades on the south bank of the Wichita River, which southbound travelers can see on Interstate 44 as they cross the bridge.
Residents of Wichita Falls enjoy a fairly mild climate. In July, temperatures reach the mid 90s and in December, averages hover around the 50s.
