Schaumburg wasn’t incorporated until 1956 but its history goes back much further to the 1830s when German immigrants first moved into the area. Much of those who still live in the village are of German descent and the community’s oldest Christian church, St. Peter Lutheran Church, had services in German as late as 1970. Today, more than 74,700 people live in Schaumburg.
