MOVING TO THE CENTRAL REGION

The central region is the metropolitan hub of Singapore, full of rich culture and entertainment. Home to the financial and commercial districts, the central region offers plenty of employment opportunities and is close to many of the country's premier attractions.

The convenient location does however come at a cost, with housing and rental prices being some of the most expensive in Singapore. The central region is also the most populous area of Singapore, making it far noisier and busier than surrounding regions. The lack of greenery and bustling city lifestyle may take some getting used to but once settled in, you’ll be right at home.

In the Central Region you’ll find notable locations like Marina Bay, Marina Centre, Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar and Sentosa, some of the favourites for locals and international tourists alike. Orchard Road is one of the must-see attractions for any budding shoppers, home to high end fashion brands and boutiques. For those more inclined to food, culture and arts, the Civic District has some stunning heritage buildings (and the only UNESCO heritage site in Singapore - Singapore Botanic Gardens!) that showcase the diverse entertainment Singapore has to offer. There are also several renowned international schools within the region, which are very popular, especially with the expat community.

When it comes to planning out your move, there are a few things to keep in mind. Firstly, living in the Central Region will give you the choice of a high-rise condo or apartment, providing access to a number of shared amenities like pools, gyms and country clubs. These apartments can vary in size and we would advise you to review your home's floor plan prior to moving. This will help you decide how much of your current home you can or will move with and what you may prefer to leave in storage. Once you have your moving date set, it’s then time to get in touch with a removalist. Our expert team will discuss the moving process with you, from what to do on the day, to how to accept your items at your final destination.

MOVING TO THE NORTH REGION

If you’re looking for more greenery and a quieter lifestyle, look no further than the North Region. While you may feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you’re only 18km from the Central Region. This means you're able to indulge in the nature reserves and forest trails while only being a short drive away from the city centre.

The least populated but second largest region in Singapore, the North is less developed than its neighbouring regions, though this only contributes to its appeal. Most of the residential area is concentrated in Woodlands with the highest concentration of condos and landed properties. However, this may be positioned to change as housing projects and planned modern community facilities could transform the localities.

Some of the major attractions of the region include the Sembawang Hot Spring and the expansive Central Catchment Nature Reserve, home to the 250-metre suspension bridge known as the TreeTop Walk. Fans of wildlife will be well suited for the North Region, with Singapore Zoo and River Safari being located here.

The North, in particular the Woodlands, is perfectly accessible via public transport, being connected to the North-South line as well as the Bukit Timah and Seletar Expressways.

MOVING TO THE NORTH EAST REGION

The North East Region has undergone quite a makeover in the previous decade, transitioning from factories and industry to vibrant waterfront living. A mix of old and new, the rustic charm accompanied by the comforts of modern malls and attractions makes the North East the perfect place for your next chapter.

Abundant in natural resources you’ll find a breathtaking collection of reservoirs, wetlands, canals, coastlines and public green spaces. Outdoor attractions like the serene Punggol Promenade Waterfront Walk and Sengkang Riverside Park help you escape the city and get in amongst the fresh air. Whether it be walking, cycling or jogging in the beautiful Singapore weather you’ll love these natural attractions. Those looking to soak up some nightlife can sign up for the Night Safari experience or head to the bustling Serangoon Gardens.

The North East Region has a wide selection of rental properties, condos and apartments with plenty of modern amenities within walking distance. Strong Australian and French expat communities reside in these areas with the Australian International School Singapore and the French School of Singapore closeby. Transport is very well established in the North East with North East and Circle MRT lines as well as the Tampines, Central and Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressways. This makes commuting to the Central Region simple and easy.

MOVING TO THE EAST REGION

The East Region is the smallest but most densely populated region in Singapore. While largely residential with beautiful beaches, this region is packed with business centres. This means the East is full of affordable and spacious condos, with wide open parkland spaces. These are connected by cycle paths, frequented by local roller bladers and bikers alike.

Made up of colourful and lively suburbs like Siglap, Bedok, Tampines and Joo Chiat, you’ll be a part of the village lifestyle beloved by its residents. Most estates and complexes are within walking distance of Singapore’s largest park, East Coast Park, showcasing some breathtaking ocean views and the Bedok Reservoir.  A diverse array of international schools including the Canadian International School, United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA), Rosemount International School and NPS International School, makes this an ideal location for families, housing a strong and ever growing expat community.

Transport in the East region is very accessible, with the East-West and Thomas-East Coast lines making commuting to the central region and surrounding areas easy. The East Coast Parkway and Tampines and Pan Island expressways also offer simple connections for motorists.

MOVING TO THE WEST REGION

The West Region, is the largest geographical region in Singapore and home to shipyards, farms, forests and industrial estates. While this industrious nature may scare off some, the West is scheduled for significant upgrades and it’s existing selection of shops, leisure facilities and amenities will only be enhanced in the years to come.

Rich with outdoor spaces and wildlife the Western region is great for anyone with a calling to the outdoors, having an array of green spaces and the famous Jurong Bird Park. History and culture buffs are also well catered for here with some great museums like the Singapore Science Centre.

Popular areas like Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Jurong and Tuas have larger properties with reasonably priced rent and excellent amenities. Local employees are often drawn to the region by the convenience of areas like Boon Lay, Taman Jurong and Hong Kah, which save on commute time.

A number of public transport lines connect the Western region to surrounding Singapore, with the East-West line allowing for a seamless commute into the central region. The Pan Island and Ayer Rajah expressways also make travel by vehicle simple and painless. The Singapore High Speed rail, terminating in Jurong, connects Singapore to Malaysia, perfect for anyone planning to travel frequently between the two.
